Informace v češtině (Summary in Czech)

I am an Assistant Professor of Business Informatics (with concentration in Information Systems Development and Software Quality Management) at The Prague University of Economics and Business in the Czech Republic. Additionally, I serve as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Human Movement Studies at the University of Ostrava, where I am involved in the DigiWELL project. This project explores digital technologies aimed at enhancing physical, psychological, and social well-being, primarily from psychological perspectives.

My original background is in engineering, and my academic identity is strongly associated with the desire to build useful, people-friendly technological solutions. In that sense, I align myself with the tradition of Human-Centered Computing, a broad field that intersects significantly with Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, and Ergonomics, and also with the design and study of healthcare-related applications. Consequently, my work often spans multiple disciplines, including public health and, more recently, also physical activity psychology. From a more tradditional view, some of my formative research activities fall under the interdisciplines of Biomedical Informatics and Health Information Technology. Notably, when examining this area from a consumer health perspective, it would be termed more aptly as Consumer Health Informatics.

I am also engaged in the disciplines of Business Information Systems (and their Engineering), and in Empirical Software Engineering, which both examine software technology and processes within enterprise contexts, albeit from different perspectives. My focus here is on information systems development methods, software quality management techniques and philosophies, and the social aspects of software development activities. Currently, most of my teaching is concentrated in this software-related area.

I bring over 10 years of industrial experience in IT management and software quality assurance, gained from working with several large companies in the telecom, finance, and pharmaceutical industries. While now fully in academia, I strive to maintain strong links to industry through several applied research programs.
